On November 3, 1957, the second-ever orbiting spacecraft carried the first
animal into orbit, the dog Laika, launched aboard the Soviet Sputnik 2 spacecraft (nicknamed ‘Muttnik’ in the West). Laika died during the flight, as was intended because the technology to return from orbit had not yet been developed.
In 2008, Russian officials unveiled a monument to Laika. A small monument in her honour was built near the military research facility in Moscow which prepared Laika’s flight to space. It features a dog standing on top of a rocket.
On November 02, 2000, a person calling themselves Timetravel_0, and later John Titor, started posting on a public forum that he was a time traveler from the year 2036.
One of the first things he did was post pictures of his time machine and its operations manual. As the weeks went by, more and more people began questioning him about why he was here, the physics of time travel and his thoughts about our time. He also posted on other forums including the now non-existent Art Bell site. In his posts John Titor entertained, angered, frightened and even belittled those who engaged him in conversation.
On March 21, 2001, John Titor told us he would be leaving our and returning to 2036. After that, he was never heard from again. Speculation and investigation about who John Titor was and why he was online continues to this day.

Edgar Allan Poe (born Edgar Poe, January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849)
Poe was an American author, poet, editor and literary critic, considered part of the American Romantic Movement and was one of the earliest American practitioners of the short story and is considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre.
Born as Edgar Poe in Boston, Massachusetts; he was orphaned young when his mother died shortly after his father abandoned the family. Poe was taken in by John and Frances Allan, of Richmond, Virginia, but they never formally adopted him.
Poe and his works influenced literature in the United States and around the world, as well as in specialized fields, such as cosmology and cryptography. Poe and his work appear throughout popular culture in literature, music, films, and television. A number of his homes are dedicated museums today.
His death on October 7, 1849, has remained mysterious: the circumstances leading up to it are uncertain and the cause of death is disputed. On October 3, Poe was found delirious on the streets of Baltimore, Maryland, “in great distress, and … in need of immediate assistance”, according to the man who found him, Joseph W. Walker. He was taken to the Washington College Hospital, where he died at 5 a.m. on Sunday, October 7. Poe was never coherent enough to explain how he came to be in this condition.

Burr’s ghost is said to roam the streets of his old neighborhood (also the West Village). Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock (13 August 1899 – 29 April 1980)
With a career spanning six decades. Often regarded as the greatest British filmmaker, he came first in a 2007 poll of film critics in Britain’s Daily Telegraph, which said: “Unquestionably the greatest filmmaker to emerge from these islands, Hitchcock did more than any director to shape modern cinema, which would be utterly different without him. The magazine MovieMaker has described him as the most influential filmmaker of all-time, and he is widely regarded as one of cinema’s most significant artists.

Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (May 21, 1960 – November 28, 1994) was an American serial killer and sex offender.
He committed his first murder in 1978 at the age of 18. His last victim barely escaped, and was able to lead police to Dahmer’s apartment.
During the trial it was learned that Dahmer’s murders were particularly gruesome, involving rape, dismemberment, necrophilia, and cannibalism.
In 1991 Jeffrey Dahmer was initially indicted on 17 murder charges, but the charges were later reduced to 15. His trial began on January 30, 1992, and only lasted two weeks.
On November 28, 1994, inmate Christopher Scarver beat Dahmer with a broom handle; he died on the way to the hospital of massive head trauma he was 34.
(June 17, 1821-1900) John Henry Pepper, a professor of chemistry at the London Polytechnic Institute first opened in 1838 as a lecturer, giving talks on "The Wonders of Optical Science" which outlined the "Peppers Ghost" effect among others. Pepper enjoyed explaining science with magic and toured for several years with a Ghost Show. In 1854, the Institute titled him as "Professor Pepper", and he became the director of the exhibition hall.
The "Peppers Ghost" illusion became famous, largely through stage performances of Dicken’s "Haunted Man" in 1862, and soon after, Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol," which adopted the illusion enthusiastically.
Pictured above is a sample illustration of Pepper’s illusion in action, as illustrated in a turn-of-the-century handbook. Note that the "ghost" in the top panel with the actor represents the audience’s perception, not an actual actor. The only actual performer in a sheet is the actor below the audience and out of their view, being illuminated by a projector.
Well in a less “flashy” way, this same technique can be used to create ghostly images that looks so real and authentic, that you could easily convert any old building into a haunted building.
If you want to create your own neighborhood haunted house. Using this
technique would surely make your home standout.
